MOLLY MOON’S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM, Columbia City, Seattle

Molly Moon’s is not just a beloved local ice cream maker and retailer, it is a passionate, mission-driven company striving to promote progressive values. So when Molly decided to lease a run-down space with a 1980’s aluminum storefront in a historic building in Columbia City, she sought fresh design ideas that would position her newest shop as a gathering place for all neighborhood residents.

The design celebrates transparency and history with features such as tall, glazed kitchen walls which highlight the ice cream making process and a fully reconstructed and detailed historic storefront. A colorful mural depicting local residents is visible from the street and beckons new and long-time passersby to come on in for a scoop.

DA also completed the Molly Moon’s University Village renovation, and are working with the Molly Moon’s team on future store locations.
